Based on the Cuttlefish, a fascinating relative of the octopus, squids, and nautilus. Some cool things about them:

-They have 2 hearts for pumping blood to each of their gills, and a 3rd heart to deliver blood to the rest of their body

-to look around, the eye itself changes shape to move the lens around. I can’t even fathom this

-they have a unique bone in the mantle that helps control buoyancy and water position. When the cuttlefish dies after its short 2 year lifespan, that bone is all thats left, and is commonly sold at pet stores as a calcium supplement for domesticated birds
