About LITT Designs
Who We Are
LITT Designs was born from a shared passion for art, nature, and storytelling. We—Patrick Cullen and Leah Nakaʻahiki—met at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in the most unexpected way: walking home from a rave. Our connection was instant. As we grew closer, Leah began helping me with creative projects, her love and deep understanding of color perfectly complementing my then-black-and-white art. What started as a creative partnership soon became a journey into blending vibrant Colors with intricate detail, forming the unique style that defines LITT Designs today.
Our Roots & Inspirations
I grew up on Oʻahu, surrounded by a melting pot of cultures from the time I was three. With my family spread across the East Coast and Europe, it was just me and my parents here in Hawaiʻi. Making friends meant meeting people from all walks of life—each with their own stories, traditions, and ways of seeing the world.
From an early age, I understood that life is full of gifts in all shapes and sizes, and our differences are worth celebrating. That philosophy is at the core of my art. I don’t see any living thing as lesser or greater—if they exist, they made it here just the same as us, and they deserve to live just the same. The more I’ve learned about nature, the more I’ve seen that everything has a purpose in the chain of life. Even if something’s only function is to eat and breathe, it contributes to the whole. And maybe, just maybe, that’s enough.
The Fusion of Nature & Art
Our work is mostly inspired by the landscapes, biology, and indigenous knowledge of Hawaiʻi. From the swirling colors of a betta fish’s fins to the resilient beauty of succulents, nature finds its way into every brushstroke, and maybe, every corner of the universe. Science, botany, and marine life aren’t just interests—they are integral to the way we create. Through LITT Designs, we aim to reflect the deep connection between life forms, and ecosystems, that make this very troubled world, very much worth fighting for
Plants: Living Art in Our Studio
Plants are more than decoration—they are an extension of our creative process. Our collection includes everything from rare tropical plants to hardy succulents, each one inspiring different textures and palettes in our artwork. We believe that tending to plants is like tending to creativity—both require patience, care, and an appreciation for growth. By being close to plants, we create an environment that breathes life into our art, and air into our Lungs
The Influence of Aquatic Life
Water is a constant source of inspiration, from the ever-changing currents of the ocean to the quiet stillness of a freshwater aquarium. We maintain a collection of betta fish and other aquatic creatures, observing the way they move, and exist within their own miniature ecosystems. These elements translate into our ocean-themed pieces, and the elegance and mystery of underwater life. Through our art, we hope to share this fascination and deepen others’ appreciation for marine environments and conservation.
Our Creative Process
Every piece of art we create starts with an idea—sometimes sparked by a conversation, a dream, or an observation of the world around us. Some days, inspiration comes from the vibrant hues of a Leaf; other days, from the intricate veins of a Snail. Whether working digitally or traditionally, we allow our instincts to guide the way, layering elements from both real and imagined worlds. Our goal is to craft visuals that spark curiosity and wonder in anyone, anywhere, anytime.
Our Mission & Vision
At LITT Designs, we believe that art has the power to reconnect people with nature, to celebrate the infinite diversity of life. Whether through prints, murals, or interactive projects, we strive to blend creativity with knowledge—just as the natural world balances chaos with harmony. Our dream is to continue sharing these visions with you, paint the walls around the world and host immersive experiences that bring people closer to the wisdom of the world around them.
