Sometimes people don’t feel a connection to things that don’t share similar facial features- eyelids, body language that translates- for example.

Through observation, one can see in the behavior of fish, many unique layers of intelligence. Though the lack of eyelids may seem off-putting, there is no necessity to cleanse the eye, underwater. And so many would disregard them as vacant. But I don’t see them that way
