A former pet fish of the artist, much less handsome in person

Behold Betta splendens, a warrior fish Native to the Mekong River Basin of Southeast Asia. This River covers Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, and hosts these fish in any puddle they find. Subject to storms and drought, theyre often stranded in less than ideal water conditions

To breathe, they’ve evolved a special lung that allows them to draw surface oxygen. Other fish would die in these muddy and shallow pools, they choose to fight⚔🛡

To this day theyre celebrated and feared, and controversy follows them everywhere. Thats why I love them 🐟
