Onions are one of humanity’s first cultivated crops ever, and were highly prized by Egyptians for their shape. The circle within a circle ⚪ structure of the onion was believed to symbolize the circle of life. Because of this, many pharaohs were buried with onions on board to appease the Gods.
In ancient Greece, onions were used and abused by athletes before big games to increase blood circulation. This practice is something that is known to be true to this day. In Dogs, this leads to total breakdown of red blood cells called anemia, which is why onions are also extremely bad for dogs.
