Description
Originally drawn in 2012, this piece represents the endless growth and resilience of trees, which—unlike most living things—don’t really die of age. With the right conditions, a tree can keep expanding indefinitely, pulling carbon from the air and thriving for centuries.
The only trees that really “die” of age? Palms. Since they don’t branch and grow from a single center point, they eventually just get too tall and fall over. But that’s because they’re technically grasses, not trees.
This illustration highlights the conflict between nature and urbanization, showing a tree overtaking the remains of a crumbling city. Whether it’s 10 years or 1,000, nature always wins in the end.
